Ingredients for a pineapple smoothie on a stone countertop.
  • Pineapple
  • Banana
  • Plain yogurt
  • Milk
  • Ice cubes
  • Honey

The honey is optional depending on how sweet you like your smoothies. If you’re using a sweetened yogurt (this smoothie is great with vanilla yogurt), you won’t want to add any extra sweetener.

We usually use Greek yogurt for smoothies to make them extra creamy. Because it’s thicker, you might need a little extra milk.

Don’t skip the ice, especially if you’re using fresh fruit! In addition to chilling the smoothie, it helps make that classic creamy texture.

Smoothie tips

A high-powered blender is worth it when it comes to making smoothies, because they can break down the ingredients much more efficiently than a lower-quality blender.

If your smoothie is too thick and won’t blend fully, you don’t have enough liquid. This can happen easily if you’re using frozen fruit, so just add a few extra splashes of milk (or even water) to thin it out.

Don’t overfill your blender, especially if you are using a cup blender rather than a pitcher. If there isn’t enough space for the ingredients to move around, it won’t blend! Your blender will have a MAX FILL line to follow.

Recipe suggestions

For ultra-creamy smoothies with less dairy, you can use frozen fruit. Frozen bananas are great for smoothies! Peel them first, then cut into a few pieces. Freeze flat on a tray and transfer to a bag for later. You can pair them up with frozen pineapple to have quick smoothie packs ready to go.

Add a sprinkle of ground cinnamon, nutmeg, or cardamom for a flavor boost, or powdered spirulina for a spirulina smoothie.

Swap the banana for other fruits like papaya or frozen blueberries. or use fresh or frozen mango to make a mango pineapple smoothie.

This recipe is great with almond milk or macadamia milk. They give the smoothie a bit of a nutty flavor without overpowering the fruit.

For a boost, add a scoop of vanilla protein powder. Make sure to adjust the yogurt and milk as needed, because the powder will thicken the smoothie.

This easy pineapple smoothie tastes like a tropical vacation right in your kitchen. You’ve gotta make it!
